About Silver Spoon Labs
Our Story
SilverSpoonLabs is a medical food company dedicated to producing the highest-quality foods for individuals living with dysphagia. With over a hundred years of combined experience in the food industry and more than two decades in manufacturing dysphagia products, we bring expertise and dedication to every product we develop.
Our manufacturing partner, United Food Group, has been a trusted leader in dry blend production for over 25 years.
We also collaborate with top ingredient suppliers such as Balchem and Ajinomoto, renowned leaders in human nutrition products.
Our product design principles are based on medical research, with a focus on the pathology of dysphagia. We incorporate the principles of texture science, rheology, and sensory perception to create therapeutic foods that are both clinically effective and enjoyable to eat.
Our Founders, Gary Smith and Theodore Paul, bring more than 110 years of combined experience in food innovation and manufacturing. We like to call ourselves “Two Old Men on a Mission”, but we’re not doing this alone. We have built a diverse team of experts in flavor development, texture systems, ingredients, nutrition, healthcare, food safety, and production. Together, we are building a community dedicated to improving life for people living with Dysphagia.

Our flavor systems and texture innovations are meticulously crafted to meet the real-life challenges faced by individuals with dysphagia, including reduced taste sensitivity and limited saliva production. SwallowEase™ soups are already trusted and served in hospitals throughout the central United States.
